**蛍狩り（ほたるがり）**とは、初夏の夜に川辺や森に生息する蛍を観賞する、日本の伝統的な風物詩です。6月中旬〜7月上旬にかけて、夜のしじまに光る小さな命のきらめきは、多くの人の心を癒してくれます。
古くは平安時代の歌にも詠まれ、江戸時代には“蛍見物”が夏の娯楽のひとつとして定着しました。現在でも、京都の哲学の道、嵐山、鎌倉、熊本・一心行の大桜周辺など、全国に多くの蛍の名所があります。

Hotaru-gari, or firefly viewing, is a traditional Japanese summer activity where people enjoy watching glowing fireflies near rivers and forests at night. Typically seen from mid-June to early July, the soft glimmers of these tiny creatures bring a sense of peace and nostalgia.
Even in ancient times, fireflies appeared in Japanese poetry, and during the Edo period, Hotaru-gari became a seasonal event in urban life. Today, famous spots like the Philosopher’s Path in Kyoto, Arashiyama, Kamakura, and Kumamoto still attract visitors each summer.
